July 2, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>The Polish government has extended simplified procedures for the issue of the Polish travel documents to Belarusian nationals for another six months, its website says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Introduced by the Polish interior ministry, the clause regarding Belarusians came into force one year ago, waiving the application fee and exempting applicants from presenting proof of impossibility to obtain a travel document in their country of origin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September 2023, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka banned Belarusian embassies and consulates from issuing passports and providing notary services to Belarusians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also prohibited the diplomatic missions from participating in the sale or transfer of property, including real estate and cars, by Belarusians abroad. Such transactions can only be done by appearing in person in Belarus or by a power of attorney issued there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian opposition, the European Union, the United States and human rights groups criticized the move as a violation of the exiled Belarusians’ rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
