June 14, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) countries have denounced Belarus’ complicity in Russia’s war against Ukraine, Quotidiano Nazionale<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the annual G7 summit, which is taking place on June 13\u201315 in southern Italy, they also voiced concern about the regime’s reprisals against independent media, civil society, opposition activists and “citizens who peacefully express their opinion.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The authorities’ treatment of political prisoners remains “under close scrutiny,” they said, according to the report. The G7 called for their immediate and unconditional release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, G7 foreign ministers mentioned Belarus in connection with Russia’s war against Ukraine during their meeting in Capri, Italy, on April 19. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ministers condemned Minsk’s complicity and criticized the deployment of nuclear weapons on Belarusian territory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja also attended the meeting and stressed the need to distinguish between the regime and ordinary Belarusians who should not be isolated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
