June 10, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Polish soldiers have been attacked 50 times on the eastern border recently, President Andrzej Duda told the National Security Council meeting today in Bia\u0142ystok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He recalled that one of the attacks was fatal, according to an official livestream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The council observed a minute of silence for Private Mateusz Sitek, who died after being stabbed by a man storming the Belarusian-Polish border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poland must make “every effort” to identify those responsible for the killing and ensure they are punished wherever they are, Duda said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We cannot allow a hand to be raised in this way, not only against our soldiers and officers, but above all against the republic,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 21-year-old private of the 1st Warsaw Armored Brigade died at Military Medical Institute in Warsaw on June 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Polish Border Guard reported the stabbing on May 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few hours before the incident, border guards suffered at the hands of migrants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The migration crisis on the border between Belarus and the European Union has been ongoing since the spring of 2021. The authorities of Poland and the Baltic States consider it a hybrid attack organized by the regimes of Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka and Vladimir Putin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
