June 7, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Authorities have added 15 more names to the list of people “involved in extremist activities,” including political prisoners Dzianis Nikita and Alaksandar Ihnaciuk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nikita was sentenced to three years in a medium-security penal colony for insulting the head of state. He had been tried several times in the past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ihnaciuk was sentenced to six years in a medium-security penal colony for violent disorder, defamation of the head of state and extortion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Until 2003, he published Vecherniy Stolin<\/em>, an independent regional newspaper. He later edited the website Pro Stolin<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the updated list on the Ministry of Internal Affairs website, 11 of the new entries are inmates. Four others have criminal records. Five are women, including Homiel activist \u015aviat\u0142ana Karol sentenced to 18 months in prison in March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The list contains 4,134 entries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The financial transactions of those on the list are monitored to prevent “money laundering” or “extremism funding.” They are banned from teaching, publishing, public service and carrying weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
