June 7, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The Belarusian information ministry authorized pirated broadcasts of the UEFA Nations League and friendly games of the Belarusian national soccer team, according to amended Directive No 9, published on the National Legal Internet Portal on yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The directive encroaches on UEFA’s exclusive rights on broadcasts in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, Belarus said it would broadcast the upcoming UEFA Euro 2024 without the necessary permissions. In response, the European soccer governing body threatened sanctions against Belarusian soccer clubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

National teams of Belarus and Russia are expected to play a friendly game tonight in Minsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus\u2019 next UEFA Nations League game is scheduled for September 5 against Bulgaria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian government legalized piracy and the gray imports of goods from what it called \u201cunfriendly\u201d countries in early January 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The legislation overrides the copyright law, allowing the information ministry to authorize the use of intellectual property, including software, music, broadcasts, and audiovisual works, without the consent of the copyright holders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities consider Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, the European Union, Switzerland and other countries as unfriendly for imposing sanctions on Minsk over human rights abuses and the country\u2019s complicity in the Russian war on Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
