May 23, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Restrictions on the import of certain types of Russian and Belarusian agricultural and animal feed products will come into force in Lithuania on June 3, the Baltic state’s Ministry of Agriculture reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It mentioned 24 groups of products (the list contains more than 2,800 items), including livestock, meat and its by-products, fish, milk and dairy products, eggs, natural honey, products of non-animal origin, plants, vegetables, fruits, coffee and spices, grains and cereals, oil, beverages and tobacco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lithuanian authorities believe that the measure will allow them to weaken the economies of Belarus and Russia and strengthen Lithuania’s national security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, the ministry noted that the ban will not apply to “products for which there are no alternative sources of import (some mushrooms, berries, plant materials for weaving and treacle).”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two days ago, the Belarusian government announced the expansion of the list of goods banned for import and sale in the country. It banned drinking water, including mineral and sparkling water, from unfriendly countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also banned “individual goods from Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czechia and Estonia: beers, fermented beverages, skin care products, hair care products, shaving products, oral and dental hygiene products, deodorants, bath products, soaps, cleaning products, floor carpets, men’s textile clothing, shoes with natural leather uppers, hats, bedding, tableware, porcelain and glass kitchenware, mattress bases, varnishes, paints, slabs, sheets, plastic wrap, tags and labels of paper or cardboard,” according to the announcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
