May 20, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Belarusian nationals with expired passports will be able to vote in the upcoming election for the opposition Coordination Council, says a message from the team in charge of electoral procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The update followed the Sunday announcement that only the holders of Belarusian passports will be eligible to vote, as the opposition has no tools to verify other ID documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusians can vote via the Belarus ID app, available for download from May 20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People based in Belarus will also be able to vote, but they should take necessary precautions, such as downloading the app during election days, deleting it afterwards and deleting their device history. All personal data of voters would be encrypted and secured, the opposition assured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Coordination Council election is scheduled from May 25 to 27 on the electronic voting platform. The new council is expected to convene on June 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities in Minsk designated all candidates as extremists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
