Investigators arrested her in December 2022 and charged her with facilitating extremism and discrediting Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ) has denounced the sentence as revenge against&nbsp;reporters. Belarus has at least&nbsp;thirty-three media professionals behind bars, it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u0160\u010dyrakova cooperated with several independent media until her retirement&nbsp;from journalism in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She has a&nbsp;15-year-old son, \u015aviatas\u0142a\u016d, who currently lives with his father.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Judge Mika\u0142aj Dola of the Homiel Regional Court has examined the case&nbsp;since July 27.
