April 23, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Lithuanian MPs have voted to reject the proposal that Belarusians and Russians should have their residence permits revoked if they travel home more than once every three months, LRT<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Seimas continues discussing restrictions for Belarusian and Russian nationals and will vote on the bill on April 25. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If adopted, it would extend existing restrictions against Belarusian and Russian nationals for another year and maintain stricter border controls for Belarusians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposal to limit trips for Russians and Belarusians was registered at the Seimas on April 9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja stressed that the move would not solve the security problem but help Vladimir Putin and Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka isolate ordinary Belarusians<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian community in Lithuania has grown significantly in the last few years and now numbers more than 60,000 people, which makes it easier for Belarusian intelligence to find suitable recruitment targets, Darius Jauni\u0161kis, director of the State Security Department, said last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
