April 8, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka has warned officials of an ongoing information war as he appointed U\u0142adzimir Piarco\u016d as the first deputy head of his administration to oversee the information sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian ruler claimed that “Western curators” instructed the exiled opposition to commit terrorist acts in Belarus and said he knew about alleged plans of an armed confrontation that would result in the seizure of some Belarusian territories and deployment of foreign troops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As far as possible, I’m informing the society and our people about the key points,” \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s press office quoted him as saying. “But I realize that the situation is not simple and everything is boiling down to the media [which] play a crucial role in the development of Belarus.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Take, for instance, information and psychological operations on the border. Why should we lie? Look how many corpses are lying on the border today and they [the West] are dumping even more of them,” he claimed in a reference to the illegal migrant crisis on the Belarus-EU border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141uka\u0161enka has repeatedly accused the West and his political opponents of preparing combat units for an armed change of power in Belarus without presenting any evidence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Propaganda and law enforcers occasionally report arrests of “terrorists” from Ukraine, but the authenticity of these reports cannot be verified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
