He may face criminal charges, human rights defenders say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another video shows Siarhiej Kopa\u0107&#8217;s arrest. The 47-year-old father of three from Lida, Hrodna region, admitted under duress to sharing opposition content and Nazi symbols on social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police also release a video of a woman arrested in Homiel for allegedly insulting law enforcers online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arrests<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Siarhiej Radkievi\u010d, an employee of an engineering company from Mahilo\u016d, was arrested for allegedly signing up for the opposition\u2019s Pieramoha Plan, <em>Mediazona.Belarus<\/em> said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Viasna reported mass arrests in Krasnapolle, Mahilo\u016d region, apparently linked to manifestations of dissent during the parliamentary and local elections held from February 20 to 25. The exact number of arrested is unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trials<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A judge in Lida jailed Pavie\u0142 Viarcinski for 15 days for giving a like to a video on Odnoklassniki featuring a white-red-white flag and \u017dyvie Bie\u0142arus slogan, the <em>Pravo Imeyut<\/em> Telegram channel said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On February 15, a judge in Bierastavica, Hrodna region, sentenced a local woman to 60 hours of community service for sharing a video on Odnoklassniki, the same channel reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On February 8, photographer Ja\u016dhien \u0160klare\u016dski was fined 1,000 rubels (about $310), the <em>Vitebsk, Ya Gulayu!<\/em> Telegram channel reported. The father of three was persecuted for sharing two opposition videos on VKontakte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Criminal proceedings<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former journalist Alaksandar Ihnaciuk will go on trial on March 15 in Stolin, Brest region, <em>Pozirk <\/em>reported. Authorities accuse him of extortion, organizing or participating in a riot and slandering Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On March 19, Nizkiz band members Alaksandar Ilin, Siarhiej Kul\u0161a and D\u017amitryj Chala\u016dkin will go on trial in Minsk on protest-related charges, Viasna reported. The musicians have been in custody since January 5. Rights groups consider them political prisoners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On March 25, a judge in Horki, Mahilo\u016d region, will hear a case against Dzianis Dzikun accused of disobeying prison administration. Dzikun was given 23 years in prison for an alleged attempt to destroy a railway relay cabinet a few days after Russia&#8217;s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. His prison term may be extended by two years if found guilty in the new trial. Dzikun was repeatedly placed in a punishment cell and was held incommunicado for months, his family members say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Special proceedings<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Investigative Committee said it opened a special procedure case against exiled activist I\u0142ona Rudzienia on several charges, including facilitating extremism, insulting officials and threatening violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lawyer and opposition activist Halina Parchim\u010dyk, known for defending people accused in politically-motivated cases, left Belarus, Dissidentby reported. In late February, agents of the Committee for State Security arrested her for participating in a 2020 postelection rally and donating money for opposition fundraisers on Facebook. The woman spent a week in a pre-trial detention center and was released on her own recognizance as a suspect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of March 14, human rights defenders identified at least 1,412 political prisoners but the real number is considerably higher because many cases go undocumented.
