March 13, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarus remains one of the world’s top 25 exporters of major arms, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) said in a report<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Analysts compared 2019\u201323 with 2014\u201318. Belarus’ share of the global arms market fell from 0.4 percent to 0.2 percent during this period. It lost 34 percent in exports and ended up 23rd in the ranking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SIPRI named Vietnam as the largest buyer of weapons from Belarus in 2019\u201323, accounting for 30 percent of all sales. It was followed by Serbia (22 percent) and Uganda (17 percent).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus is also among the top 40 largest importers of major arms. In 2019\u201323, purchases increased by 30 percent compared with the previous five-year period, with Belarus’ market share rising from 0.4 percent to 0.5 percent. Russia was its only arms supplier over the past five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the report, nine of the top 10 arms importers in 2019\u201323 (including the top three: India, Saudi Arabia and Qatar) are in Asia, Oceania and the Middle East. They are followed by Ukraine, which in 2022\u201323 was supplied with major weapons by more than 30 countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
