February 23, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The European Union has included three Belarusian companies in its new sanctions package punishing Russia for invading Ukraine, the Official Journal of the European Union reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sanctions list includes D\u017amitryj Dziamida\u016d, chairman of Navapo\u0142ack City Executive Committee, D\u017amitryj \u0160a\u016dco\u016d, secretary general of the Belarusian Red Cross, as well as Paralympian Alaksiej Ta\u0142aj and his foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All of them were involved in the deportation of Ukrainian children to Belarus, the EU said. It named Ta\u0142aj a key figure in the deportation and in the illegal adoption of Ukrainian kids by Russian and Belarusian families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It said the displaced minors “are forced to attend educational programmes which are actively supporting Russian state propaganda, publicly denying Ukraine\u2019s right to statehood and calling for the ‘denazification’ as well as the ‘de-Ukrainisation’ of the country and promoting the idea that Ukraine should be an integral part of Russia.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“His actions violate the rights of Ukrainian children and infringe Ukrainian law and administrative order,” the EU said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It went on to say that \u0160a\u016dco\u016d met with Ukrainian children both in Belarus and in Russian-occupied territory. “D\u017amitryj \u0160a\u016dco\u016d uses the Belarus Red Cross to organise and facilitate the movement of Ukrainian children to Belarus. His actions violate the rights of Ukrainian children and infringe Ukrainian law and administrative order,” it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sanctions list includes 2566 Zavod pa Ramoncie Radyjoelektronnaha \u016czbraje\u0144nia and its CEO Valeryj \u0160aci\u0142a; Pielenh; Ar\u0161anski Avijaramontny Zavod and its CEO Pavie\u0142 S\u0142u\u010dak. All these companies appeared in the previous sanctions package.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This time it is noted that they are involved in supporting the military-industrial complex of Russia. In particular, Ar\u0161anski Avijaramontny Zavod overhauls and upgrades helicopters (Mi-24s and Mi-35s), which are used by the Russian Armed Forces against Ukraine. The aircraft repair plant in Or\u0161a “is therefore supporting materially the Government of the Russian Federation, which is responsible for the annexation of Crimea and the destabilisation of Ukraine.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sanctions were announced on February 23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
