February 21, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The BYSOL Foundation has evacuated performance artist Alaksiej Ku\u017ami\u010d from Belarus, co-founder Andrej Stry\u017eak said on Facebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stry\u017eak said the evacuation was unusual because Ku\u017ami\u010d “had repeatedly endangered himself by returning to Belarus.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stry\u017eak called on citizens to face up to responsibility deciding “whether to go to Belarus or not.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ku\u017ami\u010d said on social media that he had traveled to the country because his grandmother had died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The agencies found out that I was in Belarus and opened a criminal case over my work ‘Transit’. They put me on the wanted list,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Reform.by, the artist had also visited the country last year. In October 2023, his video art attracted the attention of Belarusian security forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
