January 9, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>“A free, independent, self-governed and self-determined Belarus is one of the pillars of Poland’s security,” Polish Sejm Marshal Szymon Ho\u0142ownia said in Warsaw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At today’s press conference with Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja, he said: “We should consider Belarus as our partner, and all those who heroically resist evil there in their unique way as our allies in building security in this part of Europe.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ho\u0142ownia said there were ideas for concrete actions in culture, parliamentary diplomacy, and cooperation between the Sejm and the Belarusian United Transitional Cabinet, which he called the interim government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the meeting, Cichano\u016dskaja said Belarusian pro-democracy forces needed Poland’s voice in the international arena, especially where it was not heard, according to Ho\u0142ownia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Realizing what is happening in Belarus today, remembering [jailed journalist] Andrzej Poczobut, remembering all the terrible situations there, I want to assure Mrs President and all members of the delegation that a free Belarus is in the interests of our free Poland and in the heart of our free Poland,” he said. “Poland will do everything for Belarus to become a free country,” he said, adding that Belarusians “are already free in their heart.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
