In the same year, it financed eight trips to Olympic qualifiers for athletes who were not supported by the Belarusian National Olympic Committee and national federations &#8220;because of their civil position.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The BSSF facilitated legal assistance to Belarusian athletes and social activists, resulting in more than 200 humanitarian visas and 20 cases of humanitarian protection in Poland, Lithuania, Germany, and other European countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the foundation spent more than \u20ac100,000 to help Ukrainian athletes continue their sports careers in wartime. It also held a series of charity auctions called &#8220;World Sport for Ukraine.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Founded in 2020 on the wave of mass protests against presidential election fraud, the BSSF acts as an independent union for athletes. Belarusian authorities blacklisted it as an extremist group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In late 2022, the Minsk City Court found its founders Alaksandra Hierasimenia and Alaksandar Apiejkin guilty of calling for sanctions against Belarus. It sentenced both to 12 years in prison without the defendants being present at the trial.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>December 27, Pozirk.
