November 15, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The \u017dytkavi\u010dy District Court, Homiel region, has declared two collections of works by 19th-century writer Vincent Dunin-Marcinkievi\u010d extremist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decision was made on November 8, according to the Viasna Human Rights Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The extremist status was granted to two volumes of drama, poetry, short stories, letters, and articles. The books were printed by the Mastackaja Litaratura publishing house in 2007 and 2008.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials found in the books a banned piece by literary critic Jazep Janu\u0161kievi\u010d and two banned poems by Dunin-Marcinkievi\u010d. The poems “Winds Float” and “Old Grandfather\u2019s Talks” were declared extremist<\/a> in August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dunin-Marcinkievi\u010d’s work had a lasting impact on Belarusian theater, and he is considered the country’s first modern classic.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
