{"id":47377,"date":"2023-06-23T12:56:38","date_gmt":"2023-06-23T09:56:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/justice-ministry-re-registers-two-pro-lukasenka-parties\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"justice-ministry-re-registers-two-pro-lukasenka-parties","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/47377\/","title":{"rendered":"Justice ministry re-registers two pro-\u0141uka\u0161enka parties"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n <b>June 23, <span>BPN<\/span>.<\/b> The Ministry of Justice has re-registered the Communist Party of Belarus and the Liberal Democratic Party, its press office reports.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t Both parties support Alaksandr \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s repressive policies.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t The re-registration involved necessary &#8220;verification measures,&#8221; Justice Minister Siarhiej Chamienka said.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t &#8220;These parties have met all the requirements specified in the law on political parties,&#8221; the minister said.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t Both the Communists and the Liberal Democrats &#8220;have implemented the designated unique goals and objectives,&#8221; he added. &#8220;The activities of these parties are aimed at the development of our state and, of course, at attracting people into their ranks.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t In early June, the ministry refused to consider a re-registration request from the opposition Belarusian Greens Party citing an incomplete application package.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t The Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) and the &#8220;Just World&#8221; Belarusian Party of the Left, both in opposition to the government, applied for re-registration and are waiting responses.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t On June 5, the United Civic Party (UCP), Hramada, the Belarusian Popular Front Party and the Greens called for the suspension of the new political parties\u2019 law as unconstitutional.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t On February 14, Alaksandr \u0141uka\u0161enka signed into law a bill governing political parties and public associations after it was rushed through the National Assembly. The new legislation would require all functioning parties to re-register. Critics fear that the reregistration campaign is just a pretext to shut down the few surviving opposition parties.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t A week later, Chamienka said that the number of political parties in Belarus will drop from fifteen to three or four after re-registration.\n<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>June 23, BPN.
