{"id":46800,"date":"2023-05-11T21:00:51","date_gmt":"2023-05-11T18:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/osce-rapporteur-points-out-impunity-in-belarus\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"osce-rapporteur-points-out-impunity-in-belarus","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/46800\/","title":{"rendered":"OSCE rapporteur points out impunity in Belarus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>May 11, <span>BPN.<\/span><\/b> Professor Herv\u00e9 Ascensio has presented his report on human rights in Belarus after November 2020 to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Permanent Council. <\/p>\n<p> He found that impunity and lack of effective remedies pose a significant threat to the OSCE human dimension. \u201cWithout accountability and justice, there can be no security and stability in the long run on the European continent,\u201d Ascensio said.<\/p>\n<p> The Moscow Mechanism rapporteur recommended that Belarus reform its laws to comply with international standards and that OSCE states bring those responsible for the crackdown in Belarus to account through national, regional or international procedures. <\/p>\n<p> OSCE member states invoked the fact-finding mechanism with regard to Belarus two months ago. \u201cWe encourage the Belarus authorities to cooperate fully with the expert mission and facilitate its work,\u201d the US State Department principal deputy spokesman, Vedant Patel, said at the time. <\/p>\n<p> Belarus dismissed the mechanism as \u201can outdated tool from another historical era.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ascensio did not receive cooperation from the Belarusian government and relied on public sources and interviews.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>May 11, BPN.
