{"id":46651,"date":"2023-04-28T12:34:49","date_gmt":"2023-04-28T09:34:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/api.pozirk.online\/articles\/pozirk-branded-extremist-content\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:29:13","slug":"pozirk-branded-extremist-content","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/46651\/","title":{"rendered":"Pozirk branded \u201cextremist&#8221; content"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n <b>April 28, <span>BPN<\/span>.<\/b> The Minsk&#8217;s Centralny District Court branded <span>Pozirk<\/span>, a media project associated with the outlawed <span>BelaPAN<\/span> news agency, as extremist content on April 21.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t The information ministry has updated its register of extremist content on April 28, adding websites and social media accounts affiliated with <span>Pozirk<\/span>, including its pages on Facebook, Telegram, YouTube, streaming platforms and <span>bpn-info.online<\/span>.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t The&nbsp;Sviet\u0142ahorsk&nbsp;District Court in the Homiel region also blacklisted <span>Naviny &#8211; Novosti Belarusi<\/span>, a group in the Odnoklassniki social network associated with <span>BelaPAN<\/span>. Its most recent post dates back to November 2021.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n <span>BelaPAN<\/span> was the first media outlet branded an extremist group by Belarusian authorities in November 2021.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t The Committee for State Security (KGB) blacklisted the private news agency on November 1, weeks before its 30th anniversary. The editorial staff immediately suspended its operation to protect <span>BelaPAN<\/span> and <span>Naviny.by<\/span> journalists.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t By that time, <span>BelaPAN<\/span> editor in chief Iryna Le\u016d\u0161yna and former CEO D\u017amitryj Nava\u017ey\u0142a\u016d had been in custody for almost three months, and its former deputy head Andrej Alaksandra\u016d, for ten months. They faced a number of politically-motivated charges ranging from participating in protests to treason. Later, investigators accused the journalists of creating and running an extremist group.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t In October 2022, Le\u016d\u0161yna was given a four-year prison term on the extremist charge; Nava\u017ey\u0142a\u016d, four years out of the aggregate six-year prison term on the same charge, and Alaksandra\u016d, five years out of 14.&nbsp;The journalists denied the charge, dismissing&nbsp;the accusations&nbsp;as the government\u2019s attempt to silence its critics.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>April 28, BPN.
