\n December 24.<\/b> Constitutional referendum would be held in the second half of February, Aliaksandr Luka\u0161enka said at a meeting with the members of the commission and the working group on the amendments to the Basic Law.\n<\/p>\n

\n\t “After a period of discussion of the draft of this Constitution, we will meet again in a working group format to see what significant and fundamental proposals would be made by the people,” Luka\u0161enka said.\n<\/p>\n

\n\t According to him, a meeting of the constitutional commission would follow to review the results of the working group’s activities, approve them, and submit the draft Constitution to a referendum.\n<\/p>\n

On March 16, Luka\u0161enka signed a decree on the
\nestablishment of a commission to prepare amendments to the Constitution. The
\ncommission, headed by the Chair of the Constitutional Court Piotr Mikla\u0161evi\u010d,
\nincluded 36 people from various fields. Speakers of the House of
\nRepresentatives Uladzimir Andrej\u010danka and the Council of the Republic Natallia
