November 6, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The Czech embassy in Minsk on November 10 will start accepting online applications for short-term Schengen visas from close relatives of Belarusians residing in the Czech Republic, the Office of \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eligible for such visas will be the parents, grandparents, children and grandchildren of Belarusian residents of the Czech Republic who hold Czech citizenship or the country\u2019s residence permits or long-term visas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Office welcomed the news, noting that Cichano\u016dskaja had repeatedly raised the issue of easing visa restrictions for Belarusian families during her meetings with Czech authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Office reported on October 5 that the Czech government had approved changes that would allow close relatives of Belarusians legally residing in the country to apply for short-term visas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is an extremely important step and a clear signal of trust in the Belarusian democratic community,\u201d said Kry\u015bcina \u0160yjanok, head of the Belarusian pro-democracy forces\u2019 office in Prague. The move would give hundreds of families hope and an opportunity to reunite with loved ones after being separated by the Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka regime, she stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
