October 31, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The European Union will take into account information about the involvement of Belarus potash monopoly Belaruskalij (Belaruskali) in unlawful transfers of Ukrainian children from Russian-occupied areas, the opposition United Transitional Cabinet reported, citing a letter from the European External Action Service (EEAS) and a number of EU member states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In its reply to a letter by the cabinet\u2019s deputy head, Pavie\u0142 \u0141atu\u0161ka, the EEAS reportedly condemned the deportation of Ukrainian children and the practice of \u201cerasing their national identity and imposing an alien ideology.\u201d The agency recalled that the EU had already imposed a number of restrictive measures against responsible individuals and entities and stressed that \u0141atu\u0161ka\u2019s update would be taken into account with a view to further strengthening the EU\u2019s ongoing work in this area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the cabinet, individual EU member states also reaffirmed their commitment to increasing pressure on Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s regime over its involvement in Russia\u2019s aggressive war against Ukraine and well as politically motivated persecution and pledged to use the new data for devising new restrictive measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLiar \u0141uka\u0161enka may knock on the doors of European offices through shadow lobbyists as much as he wants and hope that potash sanctions will be eased,\u201d \u0141atu\u0161ka was quoted as saying. \u201cThe EU\u2019s response is absolutely clear: Instead of the easing of restrictions, the regime will face new cases or even the expansion of the sanctions list.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to \u0141atu\u0161ka, his team has provided \u201cexhaustive evidence\u201d of Belaruskalij\u2019s involvement in financing and organizing the illegal removal, reception, and indoctrination of Ukrainian children from occupied areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus serves as a destination for Ukrainian children relocated from Russian-controlled territories under state-sponsored recreation and rehabilitation programs. According to various monitoring groups and official estimates, more than 2,000 Ukrainian children have been transferred to Belarus since the start of the full-scale war. Belarus\u2019 involvement in these transfers has since been flagged to international legal bodies, including the International Criminal Court, as part of broader investigations into potential war crimes. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
