October 26, Pozirk. Romania has accused two citizens of Belarus and one Ukrainian of starting a fire near the office of Romania’s state‑owned defense company CARFIL SA near Brașov on September 14.

All three suspects reside in the European Union, with two of them arrested in Germany while they were preparing for a similar act of sabotage, according to Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT).

On October 26, an arrest warrant was issued for the third suspect, who is believed to be staying in Poland.

Romania’s intelligence service SRI said in a statement that the group’s “missions were not limited to Romania.” Its coordinators in Russia had assigned it an extensive range of targets across the region, both state and private weapons manufacturing facilities, as well as other military and industrial sites of interest, the agency said.

The fire broke out on the night between September 13 and 14 at the Carfil industrial platform, damaging several commercial buildings adjacent to CARFIL SA, a subsidiary of Romania’s national defense industry company ROMARM.

The report of the arson attack near Brașov comes as European investigators are probing a failed drone‑bomb attack at Leipzig Airport in which Belarusian nationals Maksim Łapunoŭ and Andrej Karšakoŭ were allegedly involved. Journalists have linked the pair to multiple sabotage attempts across the EU.

German authorities say the early August incident involved three explosive‑laden drones, one of which struck a DHL aircraft, prompting Berlin to accuse the Kremlin sabotage and to shut Russia’s last consulate and cultural center in Germany.
