{"id":208647,"date":"2026-10-23T12:04:22","date_gmt":"2026-10-23T09:04:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/208647\/"},"modified":"2026-10-23T12:04:24","modified_gmt":"2026-10-23T09:04:24","slug":"forty-people-removed-from-terrorist-list-since-may","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/208647\/","title":{"rendered":"Forty people removed from \u201cterrorist\u201d list since May"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>October 23, <em>Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The Committee for State Security (KGB) has removed 40 individuals from its list of \u201cpersons involved in terrorist activities\u201d since May, including three in October, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In particular, Kaciaryna D\u017eyh, Illa Smaluha and Mika\u0142aj Amiel\u010danka have been deleted from the list this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of the individuals dropped from the list are former political prisoners convicted over online comments or participation in protests, Viasna said. Some of them were released as far back as 2024, but have stayed on the list until this year, which indicates that release from prison does not equal the removal of all restrictions, the organization added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Committee for State Security (KGB) has added 16 individuals to the \u201cterrorist\u201d list and removed 19 people from it in September and October 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, the list features 1,476 names, roughly half of them citizens of Belarus, according to the Viasna Human Rights Center. Most of the Belarusians were convicted on charges widely seen as politically motivated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The terrorist designation requires banks to freeze the designated persons\u2019 accounts. The designees cannot conduct any wireless cash transactions through banks and the post office. They cannot receive money transfers in prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kaciaryna D\u017eyh was arrested in July 2023 and sentenced to four years in prison on charges of slandering and insulting Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka and calling for sanctions or \u201cother actions aimed at damaging national interests.\u201d The woman was recognized as a political prisoner. In September 2024, she was pardoned and released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Illa Smaluha was arrested in 2022 and sentenced to three years in prison on a charge of inciting hatred for commenting online on the killing of a KGB officer in a shootout in 2021. He was released in early 2025 upon completion of his sentence and subsequently recognized as a former political prisoner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mika\u0142aj Amiel\u010danka was arrested in March 2022 and charged with inciting hatred, slandering \u0141uka\u0161enka, facilitating \u201cextremism\u201d and disclosing personal data.
