{"id":208169,"date":"2026-10-20T13:28:54","date_gmt":"2026-10-20T10:28:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/208169\/"},"modified":"2026-10-20T14:59:56","modified_gmt":"2026-10-20T11:59:56","slug":"commando-sentenced-to-19-years-in-prison-on-high-treason-charges","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/208169\/","title":{"rendered":"Commando sentenced to 19 years in prison on high treason charges"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>October 20, <em>Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Sources in Belarus reported new instances of politically motivated persecution in Belarus between October 17 and October 19, including a 19-year prison sentence for Ja\u016dhien \u017daryka\u016d, an officer of the Special Operations Forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below is Pozirk\u2019s recap:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A judge of the Minsk Regional Court has sentenced Ja\u016dhien \u017daryka\u016d, a 23-year-old resident of Babrujsk, Mahilo\u016d region, finding him guilty of high treason, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The administration of women\u2019s Colony No. 4 in Homiel is constantly punishing political prisoners for petty violations of prison rules, such as unbuttoning their uniforms, and denying them proper medical treatment, the Viasna Human Right Center reported.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Police officers on October 15 visited the relatives of exiled journalist D\u017amitryj Pankaviec, who has lived abroad since 2021. The visitors announced that a criminal case had been opened against Pankaviec and asked whether he plans to return to Belarus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Police visited the village of Jab\u0142onka near Ivacevi\u010dy, Brest region, on October 13 and 14, to interview the neighbors of former Belsat journalist Siarhiej Sku\u0142aviec, who lives abroad and whose house has stood idle for three years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The number of documented political prisoners in Belarus remained unchanged at 886, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported.
