October 14, Pozirk.<\/strong> Belarus\u2019 pharmaceutical industry has solved the problems caused by sanctions, according to Juryj Pachodnia, general director of state conglomerate Belpharmpram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pachodnia said that all necessary conditions for the production of all pharmaceuticals in Belpharmpram\u2019s range have been created, with Belarus importing ingredients from \u201cfriendly countries\u201d such as China and Russia and developing domestic substitutes for imports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pachodnia acknowledged that Belarus continues to rely on imported active substances, with only about 80 of the 1,600 medicines produced in the country made exclusively with local ingredients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pachodnia noted that Belarus\u2019s pharmaceutical industry had never been directly under sanctions, and that \u201cresponsible partners\u201d in Europe continue supplying Belarus with substances and medicines. \u201cWe are not experiencing any substantial problems stemming from sanctions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bie\u0142miedpreparaty\u2019s CEO Alaksandar \u017dadan listed examples of import substitution projects in the pharmaceutical industry, including transition to Belarusian-made starch and to ethanol distilled by Babrujsk Biotechnology Plant. He said that cooperation is underway with Bie\u0142aru\u015bkalij (Belaruskali) in Salihorsk to produce substances based on potassium chloride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minskintercaps CEO U\u0142adzis\u0142a\u016d Andrej\u010danka said that many European suppliers still work with Belarus owing to exemptions for non\u2011dual\u2011use goods and national regulators in countries like Switzerland and Germany allowing exports to Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minsk has repeatedly accused Western nations of limiting Belarusian people\u2019s access to vital medicines through sanctions and condemned the restrictions as a threat to human rights and vulnerable people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
