October 14, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Belarusian-made cigarettes worth more than \u20ac33,000 were discovered in a garage in the city of \u0160ven\u010dionys, Lithuania\u2019s State Border Guard Service reported on October 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Criminal intelligence officers of the Vilnius Border Control Unit found the stash in a search late on October 12. Earlier, a 29-year old citizen of Lithuania brought the NZ Gold cigarettes to the site inside a Lithuanian registered Audi A6. He was accompanied by a 28-year old man driving Mercedes Benz that had a temporary Lithuanian registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two men were arrested and an inquiry was launched. On 14 October, the detainees were released after signing a written pledge not to leave their place of residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They may be charged with the illegal handling of excisable goods, an offense punishable with up to six years in prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
