October 14, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Jailed regime critic Cichan Osipa\u016d faces new criminal charge of disobeying prison authorities, the Viasna Human Rights Center reports. Former political prisoner Antanina Kanavalava told Viasna that the case was opened on October 9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Osipa\u016d has been held behind bars for more than six years. He developed serious health problems in prison, including issues with his spine and heart. He is currently held in solitary confinement at the Penal Colony No 11 in Va\u016dkavysk, Hrodna region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dissident is serving an 11-year prison term, given on charges widely seen as politically motivated. These include allegedly running over five military servicemen during the postelection protests in August 2020, participating in mass riots and knowingly making a false accusation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subsequently, authorities sentenced Osipa\u016d to an additional two years and two months in prison on disobedience charges: in 2022 and earlier this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
