October 8, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>The resumption of direct flights between Minsk and Ashgabat, suspended in spring 2020 due to COVID\u201119 restrictions, was discussed during a meeting between Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ry\u017eanko\u016d and Turkmenistan\u2019s Deputy Prime Minister Batyr Annayev in Ashgabat on October 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Belarusian foreign ministry, the restoration of the service is important in the context of increasing business cooperation and the growing popularity of Belarusian universities with Turkmen students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ry\u017eanko\u016d and Annayev also discussed the potential use of Turkmenistan\u2019s North-South and West-East transport corridors and seaport infrastructure to build supply chains for Belarusian goods in the Caspian region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Annayev reportedly expressed an interest in expanding educational cooperation, particularly in training staff for jobs that are in high demand in Turkmenistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ry\u017eanko\u016d also met another deputy prime minister, Nokerguly Atagulyyev, who heads Turkmenistan\u2019s Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs to discuss ways of boosting bilateral trade and economic ties, including through business communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They reportedly agreed to hold a bilateral business forum and other events aimed at expanding contacts between businesspeople and industrial companies and stressed the need to expand cooperation between chambers of commerce and improve conditions for investment and joint projects, including in the light and food industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On October 8, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka left for Turkmenistan to take part in a summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). He is expected to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on its sidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
