September 29, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarusian potash giant Bie\u0142aru\u015bkalij facilitates the deportation of Ukrainian children from Russia-held Ukrainian territories, Pavie\u0142 Latu\u0161ka, deputy head of the opposition transition cabinet, said in a statement addressed to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company acts as \u201ca direct institutional, financial and logistical participant in the unlawful mechanism of systematically transporting Ukrainian children to Belarus, housing them there and subjecting them to ideological indoctrination,\u201d the cabinet\u2019s press office quoted \u0141atu\u0161ka as saying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 2,000 of 3,500 Ukrainian children illegally transferred to Belarus were sent to the Dubrava children\u2019s health camp, owned and directly managed by Bie\u0142aru\u015bkalij in the Minsk region\u2019s Salihorsk district, the politician said, citing the data collected by the National Anti-Crisis Management (NAM), a Warsaw-based Belarusian opposition group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bie\u0142aru\u015bkalij management \u201cis directly involved in organizing this war crime,\u201d \u0141atu\u0161ka stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former CEO Ivan Ha\u0142avaty, who is under the western sanctions and currently serves on the Council of the Republic, personally signed administrative documents, allocated targeted funding and provided vehicles to transport Ukrainian children through Belarus, the politician said. Ha\u0142avaty ordered preparations for the use of the Dubrava camp to house Ukrainian children, he added, noting that the NAM can prove this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlocking financial resources and trade opportunities for Bie\u0142aru\u015bkalij would amount to directly legitimizing and financing a company involved in actions classified as war crimes under international law, \u0141atu\u0161ka warned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The politician called on Kyiv to take a firm stance in dialogue with international partners and European Union institutions by actively opposing any initiatives to ease, lift or introduce exemptions regarding the export and transit of Belarusian potash fertilizers to the EU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minsk and Washington have been discussing possible potash exports to the United States as part of their talks that have resulted in the release of hundreds of Belarusian political prisoners and the removal of some US sanctions against Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Baltic states are not making concessions to the US regarding the transit of Belarusian potash through their territory, Deividas Matulionis, national security advisor to the Lithuanian president, said earlier this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
