September 29, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Belarus had 3.82 million head of bovine animals on September 1, 3.3 percent fewer than a year earlier, according to Pozirk\u2019s<\/em> analysis of data from the Natio nal Statistical Committee (Bie\u0142stat).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each of Belarus\u2019s six regions reported a decline, with the sharpest drop, of 9.8 percent, reported in the Viciebsk region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the hog population rose by 4.7 percent year-on-year to 2.11 million, with only two regions recording declines: a drop of 3.8 percent in the Hrodna region and a decrease of 0.8 percent in the Mahilo\u016d region. The Homiel region led the growth with 17.6 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this year, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka urged Alaksandar Raho\u017enik, the newly appointed head of the Viciebsk Regional Executive Committee, to tackle existing problems in the underperforming Viciebsk region, including livestock mortality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
