September 23,\u00a0Pozirk.<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>The Supreme Court sentenced Aleh Ivano\u016d, former CEO of the Hrodna meat packing plant, to seven years in prison in a bribery case, according to the Prosecutor General\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The judge also fined him 225,000 rubels (nearly $75,000) and barred the man from holding managerial positions for five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The defendant received bribes totaling 1.8 million rubels (more than $623,000) in cash and cryptocurrency from the five business executives between July 2019 and late May 2025, prosecutors said. All bribes were connected to the plant\u2019s procurement of complex food additives from specific companies, they noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ivano\u016d also had served as a delegate to the sixth and seventh All-Belarusian People\u2019s Assemblies, a body largely composed of Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s supporters, and was a member of the Council of the Republic until November 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The number of people convicted of corruption offenses increased by 12.5 percent year on year in the first half of 2026, according to the Supreme Court\u2019s data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
