September 17, Pozirk. <\/strong>Four relay systems used to control Russian jet-powered drones have been detected in Belarus since last week, all located in the Homie\u013a region, Ukrainian monitoring group \u0454Radar reported on Thursday.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In particular, the systems are based near Chojniki, Dzierbinka and Buda-Safije\u016dka in the Lel\u010dycy district and near Machnavi\u010dy in the Mazyr district, the report said. They have “significantly increased the flight range of the drones, allowing them to reach the border with Poland.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to \u0454Radar, this network made it possible for Russia to attack a Warsaw-bound Ukrainian train and filling stations near the Polish border on September 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report echoes remarks by Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, who said on Wednesday that Belarus-based relay stations had facilitated a Russian drone strike on a passenger train near the Yahodyn crossing at the Ukrainian\u2011Polish border<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Russian drone hit the train at the Yahodyn railroad station on September 13 minutes after former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt and top European security officials had passed through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No casualties were reported after the strike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Johnson and other European national security advisers, including the UK\u2019s Jonathan Powell, had passed along the same line on a different train on their way back from a conference in Kyiv. Former CIA Director David Petraeus was sitting inside another train at the very same station platform when the attack occurred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On June 19, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky gave the Belarusian authorities one week to dismantle four drone-control relay systems allegedly used to facilitate Russian attacks on Ukraine. \u201cIf he [Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka] does not shut them down, we will shut down everything within a week. Either they will do it, or we will,\u201d he warned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On June 24, Zelensky said the relay systems had suspended operations. He followed up with additional demands, saying Belarus should stop developing an \u201caggressive infrastructure\u201d of roads and storage facilities for ammunition, fuel and lubricants near the Ukrainian border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since then, Ukrainian officials have reported only occasional, and in some cases unconfirmed, instances of relay systems being used in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
