September 14, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Belarusian non-food prices grew faster last month with a 3.2-percent increase year on year after 2.9 percent reported in July, the Eurasian Development Bank said in a recent macroeconomic review.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The experts linked the acceleration to the government\u2019s decision two months ago to cut the list of goods subject to price controls from 199 to 76 items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Core inflation, which has remained at 4.8 percent for three months, indicates moderate price pressure, the EDB noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade may reintroduce price controls on certain goods in case of \u201csharp spikes\u201d in prices, Deputy Minister Aleh Dzikun said in mid-July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus saw a 0.1-percent drop in consumer prices in August, with food prices down 0.8 percent, non-food prices up 0.5 percent and services up by 0.3 percent, according to official data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
