September 12, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ry\u017eanko\u016d has arrived in India to participate in the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, the foreign ministry\u2019s press office reports. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The diplomat has already met with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar to discuss Belarusian-Indian ties and the schedule for high-level bilateral visits, it noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The talks also focused on expanding Belarus\u2019 consular services across India, prepararing a roadmap for bilateral cooperation in 2026\u20132030 and organizing the 12th meeting of the Belarusian-Indian intergovernmental commission on cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ry\u017eanko\u016d reportedly noted a \u201cpositive trend\u201d in bilateral trade, which \u201cexceeded $1 billion and continues to grow,\u201d without specifying the period. The diplomat also pledged to facilitate the conclusion of negotiations on a free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian official also informed his counterpart of Minsk\u2019s decision to issue electronic visas to Indian nationals, saying the move would strengthen people-to-people and business ties. He added that launching more flights between Minsk, New Delhi and other major Indian cities would serve the same purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Formed in 2009 as an informal platform to oppose what was called the Western-dominated world order, BRIC originally included Brazil, China, India and Russia, with South Africa joining in 2010.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2024, the list of BRICS members expanded to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka attended the BRICS summit in October 2024 in Kazan, Russia, shortly before Belarus was granted partner status in the organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
