September 12, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> IT developer Aliaksej Kirjenka has been elected secretary of the Coordination Council, while lawyer Dzmitryj Lepratar has been elected as secretary of its delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), according to the opposition body\u2019s Telegram channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Forty-three out of 63 members of the Coordination Council reportedly voted for Kirjenka, who represents the United Civic Platform and is a member of its political council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Mahilio\u016d.media<\/em>, Kirjenka is a former teacher from Mahilio\u016d currently living in Warsaw. Since 2024, he has led a team producing advertising videos for Awem Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kirjenka succeeded Ivan Kra\u016dco\u016d, who had served as head of the Coordination Council\u2019s Secretariat since its establishment in August 2020. Kra\u016dco\u016d, a member of Viktar Babaryka\u2019s presidential campaign team and an employee of the Minsk Watch Plant, stepped down in August 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dzmitryj Lepratar was one of the defense lawyers in the 2011 Minsk subway bombing trial. He will provide organizational support for the Coordination Council\u2019s delegation to PACE and coordinate its interaction with the PACE secretariat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On 26 August, U\u0142adzimir Astapienka, a member of the Coordination Council who is the United Transitional Cabinet\u2019s international relations chief, was elected as head of the delegation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September 2024, PACE\u2019s Bureau invited Belarusian pro-democracy forces to form a representative delegation and participate in the Assembly\u2019s work. The invitation came amid Minsk\u2019s support for Russia\u2019s war against Ukraine and contrasted sharply with decades of suspended relations during which Belarus was the only European state outside of Kosovo not to be a member of the Council of Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
