September 8, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Kyiv sees no signs of Russian strike forces being deployed in Belarus, Vadym Skibitsky, deputy head of the main intelligence directorate at Ukraine\u2019s defense ministry, told today\u2019s meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Interparliamentary Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Internal risks, limited military capabilities and potential economic problems prevent Minsk from joining Russia’s war on Ukraine, the directorate\u2019s Telegram channel cited him as saying.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukrainian intelligence considers it \u201chighly probable\u201d that Minsk will continue supporting Russian hybrid operations by providing territory to \u201cexert pressure on the border with NATO member states and intensify information and psychological operations,\u201d the official noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skibitsky\u2019s statements echoed recent remarks by his chief Oleh Ivashchenko, who said that there were no signs that Belarus is preparing to enter Russia\u2019s war on Ukraine. Kyiv is monitoring Russia\u2019s attempts to directly draw Belarus into its war against Ukraine, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February 2022, Russia started a full-scale war against Ukraine in which the Belarusian authorities sided with the Kremlin, allowing Russian troops to attack Ukraine from Belarus on multiple occasions, supplying weapons to Moscow and providing other kinds of assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
