September 4, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The Committee for State Security (KGB) has added two individuals to its list of \u201cpersons involved in terrorist activities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new additions are Andrej \u0160ajko, a 44-year-old resident of the Brest region, and 45-year-old Minsk resident D\u017amitryj Maroz. Both men have been found guilty of calling for sanctions, with their sentences already in effect. Neither of them is a recognized political prisoner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the official \u201cterrorist\u201d list features 1,471 names, roughly half of them citizens of Belarus, according to the Viasna Human Rights Center. Most of the Belarusians were convicted on charges widely seen as politically motivated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The terrorist designation requires banks to freeze the designated persons\u2019 accounts. The designees cannot conduct any wireless cash transactions through banks and the post office. They cannot receive money transfers in prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
