September 4, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Russia may use Belarusian territory for attacks on Belarus\u2019 NATO neighbors, Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja told 15min.lt<\/em> in an interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hybrid attacks against the alliance are already taking place, targeting Lithuania, Poland and Latvia, she added, referring to the irregular migration crisis and cigarette smuggling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c[Alaksandar] \u0141uka\u0161enka is already a war criminal. He is on [Vladimir] Putin\u2019s side,\u201d she said. \u201cWe are receiving a great deal of highly sensitive information directly from Belarus. We see that new military infrastructure is being built in the country. They would not be building it if the country were not preparing for an escalation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New military facilities and infrastructure are being built not only near the Ukrainian border but also along Belarus\u2019 borders with the European Union, the politician noted, adding that deployment of Russian Oreshnik missile system in Belarus gave the authorities \u201ca means of nuclear blackmail.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cichano\u016dskaja called for \u201cevery effort\u201d to ensure that the Belarusian people and soldiers are not drawn into the war.\u201d Despite strong pro-Ukrainian and anti-war sentiment within the Belarusian army, the ruling regime, together with the Kremlin, is capable of drawing the military into the conflict, she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russia may be testing how far it can go without provoking a response from NATO, the politician added, urging the alliance to demonstrate unity, strength and resolve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If a crack appears in NATO\u2019s unity, the bloc could face propaganda aimed at dividing countries, political parties and people, Cichano\u016dskaja warned, describing the situation as alarming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
