September 2, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) lifted all restrictions on Russian and Belarusian players, coaches, referees, commissioners and other officials in basketball and 3×3 basketball, its press office reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russian and Belarusian individual players can now compete, while officials can be nominated for all FIBA competitions with immediate effect, it noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FIBA cited the May 7 decision by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that lifted recommendations to restrict the participation of Belarusian athletes, including teams, in competitions by international federations and international sports event organizers. Ukraine expressed protest and disappointment with the IOC decision, stressing that it contradicted the fundamental principles of justice, responsibility and Olympic values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FIBA said it would work closely with the IOC and other federations to address logistical and player-safety issues linked to the reintegration of Russian and Belarusian national teams ahead of the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The FIBA Central Board said it will decide on the reintegration process at its December 2026 meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All restrictions on Belarusian athletes have been lifted by the World Dance Sport Federation, the World Confederation of Billiards Sports, the International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation, the International Federation of Muaythai Associations, World Gymnastics, European Gymnastics, the International Volleyball Federation and World Boxing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the International Tennis Federation and World Athletics have maintained restrictions imposed in connection with Russia\u2019s war against Ukraine and the Belarusian regime\u2019s role in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
