September 1, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka said while meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on September 1, that trade between Belarus and Pakistan had fallen by about 20 percent last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve slipped a bit in terms of trade, by about 20 percent,\u201d \u0141uka\u0161enka said, according to his press office, expressing hope that it would pick up in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization\u2019s summit, \u0141uka\u0161enka said that he and Sharif had agreed to maintain \u201cgood political relations and implement economic projects.\u201d He expressed satisfaction with the state of relations, both at the political and personal level. \u201cWe\u2019re friends, let\u2019s face it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sharif expressed an interest in cooperation in the agricultural and high-tech sectors, the press office said. It was noted that a group of Pakistani workers would soon come to Minsk to receive training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the two leaders reportedly discussed the conflict between the United States and Iran, as well as the situation in the region more broadly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141uka\u0161enka promised to find time to visit Pakistan and meet its leadership there, and also invited Sharif and his brother, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, to visit Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the website of Pakistan\u2019s Bureau of Emigration and Overseas, companies in Pakistan are advertising 121 jobs in Belarus to Pakistani citizens, down from 166 at the end of July.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In April 2025, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka and Shehbaz Sharif discussed establishing a mechanism to bring Pakistani migrant workers to Belarus. The Belarusian ruler spoke of plans to invite up to 150,000 Pakistani workers to address labor shortages exacerbated by emigration. However, Belarus has attracted little interest among Pakistani job seekers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
