August 28, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Economy Minister Juryj \u010cabatar, in a recent interview, revealed some key social and economic development targets for 2027 but kept silent about the government\u2019s projections for GDP growth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Presidential Administration\u2019s newspaper SB.Belarus Segodnya<\/em> reported on August 27 with reference to \u010cabatar that incomes are projected to increase by three percent, exports by 2.9 percent, and investment by 3.1 percent in 2027. The inflation rate is not expected to exceed six percent, while GPD will total around 360 billion rubels, he was quoted as saying. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

By \u201cincomes\u201d \u010cabatar was probably referring to households\u2019 real (inflation-adjusted) disposable incomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to \u010cabatar, the government\u2019s forecast reflects unfavorable external factors, such as the slowdown of the global economy to between 2.7 and 3.2 percent, the halving of Russia\u2019s economic growth projection, to 1.4 percent, the deceleration of China\u2019s projected growth from 4.7 to 4.1 percent, and slower growth expected in new markets targeted by Belarus since recently. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u010cabatar added that commodity prices, \u201cstill acceptable as a whole,\u201d are also impacted by \u201cgeopolitical instability and logistical shocks.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus\u2019 official statisticians reported that the country\u2019s economic growth reached 2.1 percent in the first seven months of 2026 after contracting in the first three months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the government\u2019s Social and Economic Development Forecast for 2026, the nation\u2019s GDP is expected to grow by 2.8 percent this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, Belarus\u2019 economy reportedly grew by 1.3 percent, well below the government\u2019s target of 4.1 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
