August 24, Pozirk<\/em><\/strong><\/em>. <\/strong>Belarus’ Security Council has launched an exercise designed to test the combat readiness of an artillery brigade and the ability of the Armed Forces across their command chain to function under wartime conditions, drawing on lessons learned from the military conflicts in Ukraine and Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On August 24, State Secretary of the Security Council Alaksandar Valfovi\u010d handed Defence Minister Viktar Chrenin a formal order for training and combat tasks for \u201cone of the artillery brigades of the Armed Forces under central subordination,\u201d according to the defence ministry\u2019s press office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valfovi\u010d said the brigade would be brought to readiness to carry out its assigned missions, with mobilization measures and the staffing of certain units up to wartime levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valfovi\u010d noted that unlike the previous such exercise, where orders were handed directly to unit commanders, the current drill is intended to assess the functioning of the entire chain of command \u201cfrom the defense minister down to the commander of an individual unit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Special attention will reportedly be paid to the application and management of modern fire systems, \u201cwith consideration for the experience from the military conflicts in Ukraine and Iran.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valfovi\u010d added that training events scheduled for the latter half of 2026 would assess remedial action taken after the previous wave of inspections and check the readiness of military units for modern warfare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He warned that the Security Council would also subject other units of the military and security apparatus to its scrutiny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian army has been conducting exercises non-stop amid tensions with the West and Russia\u2019s full-scale war against Ukraine, in which Minsk supports Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
