August 23, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Ja\u016dhien H\u0142u\u0161ko\u016d, a Mahilo\u016d-based journalist convicted of extremism, has been released after fully serving his three-year term, a source has told Pozirk.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

H\u0142u\u0161ko\u016d was hospitalized with trophic ulcer on returning to Mahilo\u016d, according to the source. He was also in hospital before his release. He served his sentence at Prison No. 4 in Mahilo\u016d and Penal Colony No.2 in Babrujsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cameraman was arrested on January 4, 2024 and sentenced to three years in prison on July 31 the same year in connection with his work for 6TV.by<\/em>, a YouTube news channel labeled by the government an extremist group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another 6TV.by<\/em> journalist, Ale\u015b Sabale\u016dski, was arrested on December 12, 2023 and given four years in prison. He is still serving his sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most journalists associated with 6TV.by <\/em>fled the country for fear of persecution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
