August 13, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Belarusians should choose tour operators carefully and thoroughly plan their itineraries when travelling abroad, the Belarusian foreign ministry said on August 13, commenting on an accident in which four Belarusians were killed and 15 injured after a minibus carrying 19 tourists plunged into a ravine in Georgia\u2019s Guria region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The embassy is in constant contact with the criminal and patrol police in the city of Ozurgeti and hospital administrations, the ministry said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overnight, Georgia\u2019s Health Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze personally visited 11 hospitalized victims in Batumi, it added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ministry offered condolences to the victims’ families and promised to provide all necessary assistance with repatriating the bodies and bringing survivors to Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian Health Minister Alaksandr Chad\u017eaje\u016d is in constant direct contact with his Georgian counterpart, the ministry said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On August 12, a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, driven by a Georgian citizen, reportedly suffered brake failure while descending from the Gomismta mountain resort. The driver survived the crash and is under investigation for dangerous driving resulting in death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The injured passengers, including children, were taken to hospitals in Ozurgeti, Chokhatauri and Batumi. Two victims are in intensive care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the second fatal crash involving Belarusian tourists in Georgia this summer. In July, a minibus carrying a group of tourists collided with a passenger car in Batumi. Two Belarusians, a 41-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man, were killed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
