August 12, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja has urged Belarusians not to enlist in the Russian army, comparing these military contracts to a \u201cone-way ticket.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The politician issued this statement after a Russian agency launched the website \u0417\u0430\u0449\u0438\u0442\u043d\u0438\u043a.\u0411\u0415\u041b, using a Belarusian domain name, to recruit Belarusians to fight in the Russian army against Ukraine. The website uses AI-generated images and is recruiting people aged 18 to 58, offering monthly salaries much higher than the average wage in Belarus, as well as generous lump-sum payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRussia is trying to drag Belarusians directly into a foreign, bloody and criminal war through recruitment websites and promises of money,\u201d Cichano\u016dskaja warned on Telegram. \u201cThey don\u2019t have enough of their own \u2018cannon fodder,\u2019 and now they want to take the lives of our men to fill gaps on the front lines.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The launch of online recruitment platforms in the .BEL domain may involve direct assistance of Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s regime and constitutes \u201ca direct threat to the security of the Belarusian nation,\u201d the politician said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u0141uka\u0161enka has handed over Belarusian land and infrastructure, and now he is turning a blind eye to Russian recruiters being allowed to target our citizens,\u201d Cichano\u016dskaja said, noting that this type of recruitment constitutes a grave crime under both international and Belarusian law. \u201cFor the Russian command, any mercenary is merely faceless expendable material, sent to the most dangerous sections of the front,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russian recruiters are luring Belarusians \u201cnot into contract service, but into a meat grinder, without caring what happens to you or your families,\u201d the politician stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chochu Zhit, a Ukrainian government-funded project, listed 742 Belarusians killed while fighting for Russia in April 2025. The number of recruits rose from just two in 2022 to 211 in 2023 and 377 in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The average time between signing a contract and death was 130 days. Some soldiers died just three weeks after signing a contract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
