August 6, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Only one foreign national from Turkey was granted asylum in Georgia in the first half of 2026, while requests from three Belarusian men and one woman were denied, according to Pozirk\u2019s<\/em> analysis of Georgian police data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of 372 applications were rejected, including 34 from Russians and 32 from Ukrainians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Between January and June, Georgia received two asylum applications from Belarusians among 365 applications filed by foreign nationals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many Belarusians moved to Georgia to escape the politically motivated persecution unleashed by the \u0141uka\u0161enka regime after the 2020 post-election protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the Georgian migration authorities have recently intensified their anti-immigration campaign, conducting raids to identify undocumented migrants, including door-to-door checks, with Belarusians among those targeted. Local media and diaspora activists have reported cases of foreigners being deported on what they describe as trumped-up grounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
