August 5, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Poland should be discussing various subjects with every neighbor, including the regime in Minsk, Rados\u0142aw Kujawa, secretary of state at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister and coordinator of the Polish special services, told Didaskalia<\/em>, citing the release of Polish minority activist Andrej Pa\u010dobut last April as a case in point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said that it is \u201cunprofessional\u201d to criticize state security services or the state itself for such dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Kujawa, the important message that Warsaw should convey to Minsk is that \u201cthere is no threat of aggression from Poland.\u201d Minsk, for its part, should assure Warsaw that it is not harboring aggressive intentions toward Poland, he said. If Poland receives such assurances, \u201cI think this would be valuable for the Polish state,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Russia considers military force as a means of achieving its goals in the region, the main goal of Belarus\u2019 state security services is to keep the current regime in power, which is why they view Belarusian communities abroad as a threat, Kujawa said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poland should become used to neighbors \u201cwhose democratic mandate is illusory and based on dishonest procedures,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kujawa said that Warsaw is facing a \u201ccertain psychological barrier\u201d preventing it from talking to Minsk and stressed that Belarus\u2019 independence meets Poland\u2019s national interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
