July 29, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Poland did not allow 21 undocumented third-country foreigners to enter its territory from Belarus on July 28, more than on any other day since March 20, when 33 attempted crossings were reported, according to Pozirk\u2019s<\/em> analysis of border guards\u2019 data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In general, undocumented migrants have become more active at the Polish border, with 79 thwarted attempts to enter irregularly from Belarus in the first 28 days of July, compared with 14 in the whole of June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The number of crossing attempts reportedly jumped to 18 on July 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus\u2019 three western neighbors have reported 2,306 attempts at irregular entry since July 1. Latvia and Lithuania recorded 2,119 and 108 such incidents, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three countries have reportedly thwarted 10,192 attempts at irregular entry since the start of 2026, with Latvia reporting 8,904 crossing attempts, or 87.4 percent of the total number. Lithuania and Poland reported 980 and 308 such attempts, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Irregular activity at the EU\u2019s border with Belarus has declined compared with the same period of 2025, when as many as 26,699 attempts to cross the border irregularly were reportedly thwarted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flow of people eager to cross into the EU surged in spring 2021 after Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka, angered by EU sanctions, had indicated that Minsk would not prevent asylum seekers from Africa and Asia from using Belarus as a route to the EU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In June 2021, the Belarusian government suspended a readmission agreement with the EU in response to sanctions that followed the forced landing of a Ryanair flight in Minsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Latvia, Lithuania and Poland call the migration crisis a \u201chybrid attack\u201d orchestrated by Minsk and Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
